After a turbulent release of 1.6, 1.6.2 is now on the market. Here’s the changelog:
Enhancements:
For developers: Added option to export Key Frequencies as XML.
When upgrading from 1.6 to 1.6.2, keys, clicks, distance and settings will remain.
Removed popup when opening Pulse Log if Pulse Log doesn’t exist.
Changed tray menu balloon to multi-line.
Added ability to change between two ports: 80 and 3490 (Also fixes Pulsing/connection issues).
’Logoff User’ now removes all data files.
Changed ’Check for Updates’ dialogue slightly (makes it more clear that it is a notification not an updater).
Added ’Set Default Values’ for skin settings.
Skin settings automatically revert to default if for some reason they all go blank.
All dialogue windows now show in taskbar.
Settings now save on Windows shutdown.
Pulses time-out after 30 seconds.
All dialogue windows now only open one instance.
Changed the way saving Key Frequency exports is done (automatically enters name and file type into save dialogue).
WhatPulse.xml is now stored in the same location as the .wpw files (Defaults to %APPDATA%\WhatPulse).
Other Fixes:
Fixed bug where tray menu would display ”Pulse! (Auto -2147483648 s).”
Fixed tab order in Program Settings dialog.
Fixed issue of WhatPulse? pulsing when an hour timer is set.
Fixed pulse timer not going over 1 hour.
Login Window:
Now shows in taskbar.
Tab order changed.
Added exit option.
Fixed: Button enable/disable issues.
Fixed: Dropdown box is now better sized and operates properly.
Fixed: Proxy Setting issues.
Many other small fixes.
Untill 4 weeks ago, it woke up.
There’s a new spark of energy in the development team, and this is our first release. New guy on the block is called bobL.
We are happy to announce a new version of the Windows client (1.6), the first public Mac OS X client (1.1) and a new version of the website.
Here’s a small list of the major features added:
Website:
— Overhaul of visual aspects.
— ICEPAY donation system. (phone, sms, ideal, wiretransfer, etc)
— Referral system; Gather more statistics by referring your friends.
— Knowledge Base to fit the style of the main website.
Windows: 1.6
— Optimized the data inside WhatPulse.wpw to minimize corruption.
— Store WhatPulse.wpw inside a Windows assigned place. (fixes problems with Vista)
— Brand new login window. (for existing accounts and registering accounts)
— Ability to determine the place of stats inside the geek window. (will be made easier)
— Redirected server communication through port 80 again.
— A lot of bugfixes.
’Pulse profiles’ have been renamed to ’Computers’ to make more sense.
Expect a better version release system!
With the release of 1.6, all previous versions before 1.5 (1.4.x) will be disabled. Please upgrade before 12 April, otherwise you will not be able to pulse anymore!
A word on a Linux version: I have started work on a Linux client myself, and will probaly release an alpha or beta in a few months. (for real this time. ;-))
It is possible that there are some areas of the website that do not display properly (ugly font, etc), please let me know if you find anything!
Next to the website, here are a few updates of other projects going on:
– Linux client
Staykovmarin has taken it upon him to developer us a Linux client. And, he’s almost done with it! So far the client has a GUI for most WM’s, and is ready to pulse. The ETA should be a few weeks.
– Mac client
Development of the Mac client has been restarted, and looks good so far. I should have more on this in a few weeks.
– Windows client
The Gambler and HedgeHog have picked up where I left off on the Windows client. Mostly concerning the security, and lag of 1.5. Their progress looks good so far, and I believe they will have something soon.
– Website
Well, as you see, the new design has been uploaded. With this change, I also want to involve a few more people into the development of the website.
There are -a lot- of ideas floating around for it; the main things being a total overhaul to separate design and code (using smarty templates), database redesign for speed, using caching, dynamic graphs, expanding the premium services, and a lot more.
If you are a webdeveloper (PHP/MySQL), recognize any of above terms, and want to help WhatPulse out; send me an email at wasted@whatpulse.org.
To be continued!
